A great mountain bike introduction to the Adalucian mountains. Jump on the bikes at Puentezuela and head down towards the reservoir on dirt tracks below wonderful flow stone cliffs housing old cave houses, then follow o short flowing peice of single track along the shore of the lake and on to the road at the head of the dam . The route follows the road for around 2km gradually gaining height before heading off on dirt tracks into the mountains. The route follows an undulating track trough olive groves and deep arroyos, taking in magnificent views of the sierra's and lake. After loosing some height a steep climb reaches the days high point, and breathtaking views down the valley. Some nice down hill sections wind their way along the hillside before the route cuts of onto exquisite single track ( some pushing may be required) passing wild boar traps and leading to the very impressive Barranco Del Buitre (Canyon of the Vultures) . Technical riding leads down past Cortijo Lazar and onto dirt track to the bar at the campsite. Refreshments can be taken and a vehicle ride back from here. For those with a few more miles in the legs the route winds it's way along tracks back up the valley to finish at our front door in Puentezuela. |
