The Castril area has a number of explored and documented caves and no doubt a wealth of dicoveries waiting to be found in the mountains and vallies nof the surrounding sierras.

The main documented caves are:
PB4 - CUEVA DE DON FERNANDO - CUEVA DE LOS SANTOS- TORCA DE FUENTEFRÍA - SIMA FERMÍN TORCA DE LOS PICONES BAJOS - TORCA MORRA DE LOS COVARRONES

cueva PB4 Castril PB4 - Situated in Almiceran just above lake Bolera, this cave offers up to date, 9 km of passages. The most popular route follows the main fault system at roughly the same level. In Places it is quite complex trough boulder chokes and with passages splitting off in different directions. Cortijo Sierra Castril can offer nguided trips to this cave for those that would like to experience caving at a relatively easy level and to view some spectacualr cave formations.

Cueva Don Fernando - One of the deepest caves in Andalucia. Situated high up on the side of Barranco del Buitre, at an altitude of 1500m, it offers a vertical caving trip of -245m and has around 2.5 km of passageway as well as some striking formations.

Cueva Don Fernado Andalucia Spain Cueva Los Santos - To be found at an altitude of 1650 m on the flanks of Pico Del Buire, this is a relativelt short cave only just over 100 m long and requires no special equipment other than helmet and light. Worth a visit whilst hiking on Del Buitre.

Torco de Fuentefria - Situated high on the flanks of Pico del Buitre on the opposite side of the valley from Don Fernando. A 60 m entrance pitch leads down to to a large lake at the bottom which can be crossed with a rubber dingy to passages beyond.

Sima Fermin - To be found a little firther round from Fuente Fria. An entrance pitch leads down to a large chamber on one side and the other way a very well decorated smaller chamber.

Caving Castril Spain Torca de Los Picones Bajos - A vertical cave found high above the marble quarries of Campo Cebas. 83 m of vertical descent past some unique formations.

Torca Morra de Los Covarrones - A narrow rift entrance high up on the peak of Tejos. Single pitch decsent into a wide but narrow chamber. past large stalagtites. A possible way on at the bottom is blocked by boulders
